Unplug the soldering iron and allow it to cool completely. First make sure the iron is cool and unplugged. It will wear and tear the tip and will damage it.

Dip the tip into the tinner making sure that the entire oxidized surface is in contact with the re-tinning product. Using a wet sponge will reduce the heat of the tip. Then immediately re-tin the tip with rosin core solder.
